The physicist John Frederick Nye (–) provided a theoretical approach to glacier flow. Table (Continued)File Size: KB.

This is the first book to bring together practical examples from around the world to show how geomorphological evidence can help in effective land utilisation and hazard risk assessment. Case studies provide important lessons in risk management, and experts provide summaries of current research. The text also promotes good practice and effective land use, and looks at problems caused Author: R. J. Allison. The little book of geomorphology 3 1/7/08 1. Introduction There is no general theory of geomorphology. We cannot cast the subject in a single equation, or set of equations. As with geology, geomorphology is a tangle of physics, chemistry, biology and history. It is also geometry, as the geomorphology plays out in a.

I have treated the theoretical aspects of the endogenic features in my Principles of Geodynamics, and it is my aim to supplement my earlier book with a discussion of the theory of the exogenic features, the taxonomy of the latter having been discussed in my Systematic Geomorphology.

Specifically, the endogenetic features are treated in the science of geodynamics, the exogenetic features in the science of geomorphology.

I have treated the theoretical aspects of the endogenetic features in my "Principles of Geodynamics", and it is my aim to supplement my earlier book with a discussion of the theory of the exogenetic features.

This book stems from the belief that undergraduate, and many graduate, students in geomorphology are taught far too little about the theoretical foundation of the discipline. Practical and Theoretical Geoarchaeology provides an invaluable overview of geoarchaeology and how it can be used effectively in the study of archaeological sites and contexts. Taking a pragmatic and functional approach, this book presents: a fundamental, broad-based perspective of the essentials of modern geoarchaeology in order to demonstrate the breadth of the approaches.

The third edition of Theoretical Geomorphology is completely rewritten and up-dated including fractal geometry, general systems theory and problems of "roads to chaos". It also includes the mechanics of slope formation, the theory of river action, the system theory of landscape evolution, the theory of aquatic effects, the theory of glacial and Author: Adrian E.
